Raymond Spencer, Westbrook, Maine
MEAPDA Executive Board: 3rd Vice President
I have been asked on many occasions, how I became a member of the MEAPDA Board. Like many of us it started out in a doctors office with the words, "you have Parkinson". It was just a matter of time before I found the world of support groups and the comfort, assistance, and knowledge that came with them. In my case it was a natural progression of wanting to help others come to terms with Parkinson and finding a way to best do it. Spending over thirty years as an insurance executive I had acquired some expertise in the fields of Financial Management, Marketing, and Public Relations, added to this four years in the U.S. Navy, over fifty years of marriage, several years performing magic professionally, earning a B.S. degree from University of Maine and managing to stay alive over seventy five years led me to believe that these experiences could be put to use. It was at this point that I met Mary Sontz and was asked by her to become actively involved on the board, you can not say no to Mary. I have been fortunate enough to have been put into a position that I can promote the fight for a cure and in the process involve other like minded individuals.
